This week we‘ll have the first round of a more drama/arc specific theme: Sha Hai - aka Sand Sea - aka Tomb of the Sea!

On to my recs

I admit I‘m not the best person for this theme because I haven‘t watched the drama nor read the relevant novel yet. However, I recently came across two fanworks which fit the theme.

Title: My Hand Was the One You Reached For

Why I like it: Oof, this one packs a hefty emotional punch. It is set in Rain Village, but the main focus is dealing with Wu Xie‘s leftover/suppressed fears and feelings during Sha Hai. Xiaoge finds a book from that time in Wu Xie‘s study and things move on from there. Also features the most in character love confession I‘ve read so far in DMBJ.

Why I like it: This one also fits the upcoming round of tomb shenanigans, but with a more serious vibe. Wu Xie meets two of his older selves via a tomb mechanism and they help him rescue the rest of the Iron Triangle. The interactions of these three Wu Xies are so in character and emotionally charged, they are amazing. Sha Hai Wu Xie grabbed my attention especially *pets him gently*.
